college magazine questionnaire report

The class made up a questionnaire and asked people around the college about having a college magazine. The purpose of this was to see what other students think and their opinions so we can relate to it. Also we wanted to see what people wanted so they would buy the magazine.

I discovered that 80% of the students wanted a college magazine; this shows people are interested in the college. However the majority of them wouldn’t buy the magazine by 45% people said they wouldn’t buy it or possibly would. To raise this percentage I will advertise the magazine more to make it more appealing such as put it in the contents page. Also to make it more appealing I will make it so the first issue is free to any students and the next issue will have to pay 50p so it gives them a chance to like it. 60% of people said they would pay for the magazine only 50p, so the next issue will be this much because it was the highest percentage.

The students don’t want the magazine to come out often 90% of them voted for the magazine to come out every fortnight or monthly. This is so it doesn’t get boring and more information can go in it. We also asked them what they would like inside the magazine most people voted for a gossip page, college information, courses information and the highest ratings was an event guide and a job section. I will be adding them into my magazine and will be on the contents page so they can see where to find them. We then asked them what would encourage them to buy the magazine most of the people suggested things such as bright colours, pictures, photography and things eye-catching. I will be making sure I have included all of these when I make me magazine to make it appealing to them.

I asked if they would subscribe the magazine 80% of people said no. To increase this percentage I would make an offer to attract them by having 50% off instead of paying £5 it would only be £2.50 yearly. Finally we asked what they would like on the front cover most of them suggested things like have photos of students and bright colours mainly. For my front cover I will make sure it is colourful and add pictures of students to attract the buyers.

I think the questionnaire helped me with my magazine design because it tells me what other students would want and how they would buy it. This is important because the college magazine is for them so I need to know what they want for it and it gave me lots of ideas and opinions of different people to make the best magazine for them.
