music journalism practice, charlie and the chocolate factory

Heat magazine
This film has created a new version of the Charlie and the chocolate factory and I find it great! It’s interesting and great for the family. Johnny Depp makes the film by his humour and by getting very into his character, he plays the part well. All of the characters have been made more snobby than the original film. The setting and the effects have been used well when the 4 unordinary children walk around the factory. The stuff they find is much unexpected and has a different story twist to the first one by exploring ‘willy wonkas’ childhood.

However the things I think that can be improved are the oompa loompas, or whatever they look like. The first film made the oompa loompas cute, colourful and nice now the new oompa loompas are ugly and mean! This film is a great feel good film with a comedy twist it gives us all a lesson to not be spoilt and not take things for granted (which most of us need for a movie night in) by enjoying the wackiness and imaginative world of the chocolate factory! The rating for this fantastic film is a high 8 out of 10.

This ‘so called’ new version of the Charlie and the chocolate factory is outrageous. The new version has taken out all the simple and creative ideas and has turned them horribly wrong by taking everything over the top. The Charlie and the chocolate factory are supposed to be a feel good, nice, friendly film which the whole family can enjoy. Now it is all about humour and has mocked the old version. They should have left the old version because nothing can top the original and classy version. There is no class and is just for children to enjoy when it should be for the whole family to relate to like the old version by the nice songs, now the songs are up tempo to satisfy the younger audience.

However besides the negative comments, I can say that some qualities of this film are positive. For example Johnny Depp is the best part of this film by making it interesting and how he plays a good role for his character by getting to know Willy Wonka and his background on how he made the factory and his childhood background was. The rating for this film is 3 out of 10.
